Travel, Housing, & Food
How will our chapter travel to and from New York?
CTeen Haven will handle all transportation for our chapter. This is typically done via a chartered bus or parent volunteers.

Where will we be staying?
We stay at a home within the Jewish community in Brooklyn. Boys and girls sleep in separate locations but are together for all daytime activities, tours, and meals.

What about school? How many days will I miss?
You will only miss one day of school (Friday). We will provide an official school exemption letter that you can submit to your school administration.

What is the food like?
Think big variety and delicious hot food, available 24/7 throughout the entire weekend. The food is plentiful and will not disappoint! All food is strictly Kosher. Gluten Free, Vegetarian & Vegan options are available.

Safety & Security
Are we chaperoned?
Yes, absolutely. Our chapter chaperones (Rabbi Shalom and others), are with you for the entire duration of the Shabbaton.
-
Ratio: We maintain a high chaperone-to-teen ratio of 1:6.
-
Chapter Focus: Although you are with thousands of teens, our chapter always sticks together for each part of the program.
-
Overnight: Rabbi Shalom & male chaperones stay with the boys in one home, and our female chaperones stay with the girls in a separate location. You are never left on your own.

What is the overall security like for the event?
CTeen HQ works closely with the NYPD, Transit Security, and private security firms.
-
The entire weekend schedule is shared with these groups in advance.
-
Police and private security are stationed at the entrances and exits of every venue.
-
The NYPD sets up extra patrol stations throughout the neighborhood and continuously patrols the area.
-
No teen is allowed to leave a venue at any time unless they are accompanied by a chaperone.

What should I pack?
Pack for cold winter weather! It gets especially cold at night. You will receive a more detailed, specific packing list at our mandatory Shabbaton Meeting closer to the date.

Parent & Contact Information
How are parents kept informed during the weekend?
We keep parents informed in real-time with photos and updates throughout the weekend via a dedicated parent WhatsApp group. Parents will also be able to watch the Times Square concert and Sunday closing ceremony live—be sure to try and spot us!

Who can I contact if I have a question?
Rabbi Shalom and Bracha are always available to answer your questions. If you'd like to speak with a teen or parent who participated in the Shabbaton in the past, we'll happily connect you!
